kim asked:

In George Washington’s Farewell Address he warned the nation against political parties. Consider the differences between the Federalists and the Democraic-Republicans and how they represented opposing beliefs immediately after the Revolution. Think about Jacksonian Democracy and how it changed the role that many Americans played in government. Take into account the rise of the Republican Party and how it reflected the views of the American people at that time.

  2. It splits the US apart. For example, Lincoln was a Republican to whom the south hated. They didn’t want a republican to be the president because they felt that Lincoln and his people were out to end slavery. It’s a controversy that started the brewing of the Civil War and the seccession of the south.
